There has been large progress regarding grouting of fractured rock the last 10 to 15 years. A large number of papers have been published dealing with properties of rock fractures, permeation of grout in fractures, grout mix properties and grouting technology. They have implied that the grouting of today will be more of an engineering issue than handy craft. This will change the approach both to pre-grouting of tunnels and dam grouting and the new knowledge has shown to give time and cost saving to great benefit for both employers and contractors.
However, the research results published in peer reviewed journals cannot directly be applied in practical works. It is a need to summarize and discuss the research work in order to make the research results achievable to ISRM´s members. This will be the main objectives of the new commission.
Purpose of the Commission
The objective of the commission is to highlight and describe the present up to date knowledge in the field of grouting rock fractures for the members of ISRM. See Report layer and intro.
Product of the CommissionReports with recommendations to design and carry out grouting. See Report layer and intro.
