Terms of reference

Purpose of the Commission

  • To discuss, advance and develop issues related to the occurrence, investigation and properties of soft rocks and their utilization in engineering works, either as construction materials or as foundation massifs;
  • To encourage the collaboration and exchange of information of those dealing with research and investigation as well as with practical works with soft rocks, in order to foster the knowledge on the subject;
  • To encourage organization of technical symposia or Specuialized Conferences.

Product of the Commission

  • Proceedings of the 2nd Specialized Conference on Soft Rocks, to be proposed at the 13th ISRM Congress (Cartagena, Colombia 2015);
  • Proceedings of intended Special Session on Soft Rocks at the 14th Congress, Brazil, 2019.
